1.3.3 UPLOADING EXCEL FILE

The excel you are uploading can be one of the next types:

  • Template downladed from Up2maps. In this case you only have to fill the value fields of the level you want to work with before uploading the template.

  • Own Excel with nomenclature/codes/abrev. You must ensure that in the first row you have the field titles (for example States Codes) If you are not making the count operation you also must have at least one value field with its title (for example nº of cars selled) In the Editor Screen there is the  "NoMatch" tab which identifies which of your nomenclature/codes/abrev fields have not been processed by Up2Maps. You can modify your excel and upload it again. We will review all NoGeos and will add them to our codification store if it is a common name or code.

  • Own excel with Zip/Postal Codes. You must ensure that in the first row you have the field titles (for example Zip/Postal Codes) If you are not making the count operation you also must have at least one value field with its title. In the Editor Screen there is the  "NoMatch" tab which identifies which of zip/postal codes have not been processed by Up2Maps. You can modify your excel and upload it again.

Important!: excel must contain the columns titles in the first row, and no empty rows.
Important!: data must be in the first spreadsheet  of the uploaded excel
Maximum file size: 2Mb
An excel file shouldhave this structure.

Example: (We are going to upload an Excel file with the gasoline consumption in France in 2006)

We select France and click on Create reportmap

We have to select the administrative detail of the map. In this case our data is organized in regions.

Now we choose to upload an  excel

We select the excel file from our computer.

We can see some rows and columns of our excel. Please, select the right column to asign the data to the correct boundarie.
In this example we have to click on the column with the title "name" (turns into yellow when selected) and select Names/ Territoty names
We could also select  "Codgeo" column and then the Administrative codes / Abbreviations
Then we select Next

We must select the column with the data that will be shown in the map (yellow when selected). In this case "gasoline sales".
Then we select the operation we want to perform on the data. Here we choose "Sum by territory"
Then we select Next

We obtain the map in the editor screen where you can edit all features (color, labels, legend...)
